Break3 vs QuitNow: apps to quit smoking
Break3 vs QuitNow for quitting smoking: features, prices, platforms and community, from their site and store pages as of 5 November 2026.
QuitNow has been around since 2011 and is one of the best-known quit smoking apps. Break3 is a tracker for quitting several kinds of habits, cigarettes among them. We compared them using what the developers say on quitnow.app, in their PRO FAQ and on the App Store and Google Play listings, all checked on 5 November 2026. Prices are from the US App Store and differ elsewhere.
The short version
QuitNow is built for smoking alone, and goes deeper there: a quitting course, health recovery figures based on WHO data, an ex-smokers' chat, a monthly live session with a psychologist and an AI assistant. Break3 suits you if you're quitting with friends, want to start in the browser or Telegram without installing anything, or are quitting more than one thing.

Where QuitNow is stronger
Focus. The course, the health screen, the books and the sessions with a psychologist all serve one goal, and Break3 doesn't offer that set for smoking. The App Store shows 4.7 out of 5 from about 14,000 ratings and Google Play shows over 5 million downloads; the developer's site says more than 10 million people have quit smoking with QuitNow.
QuitNow is also a native app for phone, tablet and watch, with widgets, and its site links to a directory of quit lines by country.
Where Break3 is different
Break3 is entirely free, with no ads. QuitNow's free version shows ads and some features need the subscription.
QuitNow's chat is shared by all ex-smokers. In Break3 you invite your own people into a shared habit, 2 to 50 of them. Each person keeps their own streak, check-ins show in the feed, and once a week there's a top 10.
Break3 runs in the browser and in Telegram, and without an account you can start a habit and check in. You can quit several things at once, each with its own streak.
Break3 also has the portrait. You answer a couple of questions about who you want to be in a year, upload a selfie, and an AI draws you. Check-ins earn steps, each new level opens the next portrait, and every day that future you leaves a line on the home screen.
Which to pick
If smoking is the one thing you're quitting and you want a course, health figures and a big ex-smokers' chat, QuitNow is made for exactly that. If you're quitting with friends, quitting several things, or want to start in the browser with nothing to install, try Break3.
